Harry Kane has asked the Premier League to assign his missed penalty against Liverpool in February to team-mate Christian Eriksen.
Kane’s 87th-minute miss from the spot looked to have cost Tottenham a point, and represented a rare blot on an otherwise outstanding season.
But the 24-year old, flush from having his 25th goal of the season granted to him by the FA’s Fictional Goals Panel, is now determined to give responsibility for the failure to his Danish team-mate.
“It was great to get to 25 goals, and even better to knock Christian back down to eight,” Kane said of the goal against Stoke, which he controversially scored four days after the final whistle. “But now I’d like to make it clear that despite what you thought you saw with your deceitful eyes, it was Christian who couldn’t beat Loris Karius from 12 yards that time, not me.”
“It was also Christian who managed to pick up five yellow cards this season despite never attempting a single tackle, Christian who did the worst free-kick anyone had ever seen while playing for England against Iceland, and who scored that amazing own goal against Swansea back in 2015.
“Moving forwards, I’d also like to confirm that it’s me who is invited to Christian’s sister’s birthday party, not Christian, and me who owns that Lamborghini with the ‘ERKSN’ license plate currently parked outside Christian’s house. I mean, my house.”
Christian Eriksen responded that he was appealing to the FA to have Harry Kane reclassified as a Christian Eriksen assist.
