Quiz! Can you name every Czech player in Premier League history?
England face the Czech Republic in their opening Euro 2020 qualifier on Friday night, so we’re remembering the visitors’ representatives in top-flight history
England haven’t played the Czech Republic for over 10 years – not since August 2008, in fact, when Katy Perry was kissing girls and telling anyone in earshot that she actually rather enjoyed it.
It was the day Wes Brown got his one and only England goal (just about reflected in this quiz, we hasten to add) and Joe Cole rescued a draw for Our Brave Boys in the last minute of a game in which the Three Lions were – we refer to those bastions at BBC Sport here – “out-classed and outplayed by the visitors”. Send her victorious.
A little over a decade later, though, and it’s coming home. Everything. Waistcoats, inflatable unicorns, the lot. Gareth Southgate has restored a feel-good factor long lost, and England will kick off their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign in high spirits.
Here, though, we’re honouring Friday night's rivals. Twenty-five Czech players have plied their trade in the Premier League since 1992 (it says here), and now it’s on you to rattle that memory bank and pick them out.
Be warned: it’s really bloody hard, so you’ve got eight minutes to come up with the items in this museum of obscurity. Some will be familiar indeed; others will have you immediately scrabbling for Wikipedia. Good luck!
