Ranked! Every Premier League kit this season, from worst to best

50. Wolverhampton Wanderers away

You could tell us that this had been Wolverhampton Wanderers' away shirt for the past three years and we might well believe you. Generic base pattern, a shade of orangey red rather than a deep crimson to contrast the home colours and touches of grey over the shoulders – this one is fairly identikit, if you'll pardon the pun.

49. Arsenal away

Derided by swathes of the internet upon release, the Arsenal away shirt hasn't grown on us much. Yet somehow, out of the (pale, jarring) blue, one of our judging panel gave this one full marks.

Not to give it away as to who, but he's promised to wear this one in a video one day…

48. Nottingham Forest third

You could write just about anything for the press release of Nottingham Forest's third shirt and we'd probably nod along.

"Inspired by the autumnal leaves of Sherwood Forest, the Garibaldi's third shirt this season combines the lined brickwork of Nottingham Cathedral with a rounded white collar as worn in the triumphant 1979/80 season," we imagine. While this one picked up two 7s and an 8 from the judges, it also got slapped down with scores of 1, 2 and 3. It's divisive, at least.

47. Everton away

Going brave for Everton's sickly pink away top last season paid dividends, with the Toffees' form in the getup enough to save them in the run-in – so once again, Hummel have erred on the side of "too jazzy", combining shock coral and deep blue.

Naturally, our judges were torn. This is exactly where you'd expect it in the table – and should Everton finish somewhere similar in the Prem, they'd probably take it.

46. Brighton & Hove Albion away

A Sassuolo-like Seagulls strip that most of our judges gave a 5/10. It doesn't inspire, nor does it offend. About right.

45. Liverpool third

Part three of Nike's journey into weird colours for third shirts. Liverpool's lilting lilac is the best of the bunch – but still by some distance the worst of their three tops this term, like Chelsea and Spurs before 'em. The pattern is at least a little more pronounced on this one than the other two.

44. Aston Villa away

The pattern is a little nicer than the home shirt and it's a lot cleaner. But that chunky sponsor and the new badge still persist, keeping Villa's away shirt some way down the pecking order.

43. West Ham United third

Everything about this one should be a hit. Nice combination of two types of blue? Tick. Cool pattern that draws upon the design of the stadium? Tick. A collar that even reflects said pattern? Tick.

There's just something that doesn't quite feel right about West Ham United wearing Chelsea blue, though… and a couple of our judges weren't sold on this one.

42. Luton Town home

The first-ever Luton Town home shirt for the Premier League is nice enough, but… there's nothing else to note about it. Exactly what you want for a first effort, though: at least when there's nothing to live long in the memory, the memories you make in the shirt become the focus. Or something like that.

41. Wolverhampton Wanderers home

Once again, look us in the eye and tell us that this wasn't the Wolves shirt from last season, the season before, or hell, the season before that.

The fact that this one received an average score of 5/10 tells you everything you need to know. It is the Calvin Harris of Premier League home shirts: just there in the background, inoffensive but catchy enough. Watch those pesky Midlanders wheel it out again next summer without us noticing.
