Stars including Carlos Bacca, Grzegorz Krychowiak and José Antonio Reyes found themselves unable to explain to their friends and family why they spent yesterday in the Polish capital Warsaw.
Ex-Arsenal ace Reyes said: "My legs feel a bit sore today. Did we play a match? But Warsaw aren't a La Liga team. And we're not in the Champions League. It doesn't make any sense."
Reyes added that as far as he could recall, yesterday had been a thoroughly uneventful day, and that he had gone to bed early after watching an old episode of BBC courtroom drama Silk, starring Maxine Peake and Rupert Penry-Jones.

Colombia star Bacca said: "I was wondering why I had my passport with me, and then I remembered I'd taken a selfie in front of the Pałac Kultury with all the other lads. But why were we there? I'm sure it will all come back to me in time."
The 28-year-old continued that he vaguely felt like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders, but he could not specify what it was or why. Bacca also reported frustration at being unable to pay for his shopping with a large, bronze coin with a ribbon on it that he found in his pocket, and which he could only assume was some kind of high-denomination Polish złoty.
