Spain v Sweden live stream, BBC, Monday 14 June, 8pm BST

Spain will be hoping to get their Euro 2020 campaign off to a winning start when they face Sweden on Monday.

La Roja, whose triumphs in this competition in 2008 and 2012 make them the only team to win back-to-back European Championships, have not had the best preparation for this tournament. Sergio Busquets went down with COVID-19 in the build-up, forcing the rest of the squad to self-isolate and train individually.

The manager Luis Enrique has been forced to place six players from outside his initial 26-man group on standby, while at the time of writing it is still unclear whether his wish for the players to receive the coronavirus vaccine as a matter of urgency will be granted by the Spanish government. All in all, it has been a chaotic couple of weeks for Spain, and we will have to see whether or not it affects their performance in their Group E opener.

Sweden’s preparation has been rather smoother, although they will be without Dejan Kulusevski after the Juventus winger tested positive for COVID-19. He was already apart from the rest of the squad, though, so Sweden have been able to train as normal.

Surprise quarter-finals at the 2018 World Cup, Janne Andersson’s side will hope to make a similar impact at Euro 2020. They are a well-drilled team and know their 4-4-2 system inside out, although there is arguably more creativity in the ranks than there was three years ago. Kulusevski accounted for a big part of that, however, so Sweden will resort to their contain-and-counter approach on Monday.

Spain have a good defensive record, and Aymeric Laporte’s decision to switch allegiance from France has only boosted Luis Enrique’s options at the back.

La Roja will dominate possession in each of their group games, while there is more pace and directness on the flanks than there has been at recent tournaments. The doubt is whether, without a top-class No.9 they will score enough goals.

Kick-off is at 8pm BST and the game is being shown on BBC One/BBC iPlayer. See below for watching details where you are.

Use a VPN to watch a Spain v Sweden live stream from outside your country

If you’re out of the country for any Euro 2020 fixtures, then annoyingly your domestic on-demand services won’t work – the broadcaster knows where you are because of your IP address (boo!). You'll be blocked from watching it, which is not ideal if you still want to catch Harry Kane's in-swinging corners without resorting to illegal feeds you’ve found on Reddit.

But assistance is on hand. To get around that, all you have to do is get a Virtual Private Network (VPN), assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and t'internet, meaning the service can’t work out where you are and won't automatically block the service you've paid for. All the info going between is entirely encrypted – and that's a result.

There are plenty of good-value options out there, including:
