West Ham will climb into the top four in the Premier League if they beat rock-bottom Norwich City on Wednesday in a clash between two teams in contrasting form.
The Hammers knocked Leeds United out of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win on Sunday to notch a third consecutive victory in all competitions.
David Moyes’ side appear to have recovered from a slump in December, when they followed up a fine victory over Chelsea with one draw and four defeats in the league, League Cup and Europa League.
They’ve since beaten Watford and Crystal Palace, scoring seven goals in the process, and head into their midweek clash with the Canaries in fifth place, one point behind Arsenal.
It is a different story for Norwich, who have lost five league games in a row and look doomed to relegation barring an unexpected upturn in form.
Dean Smith’s side have failed to score a goal during that run and are winless in seven, but they are still not a hopeless case as they are just three points away from safety.
The manager will hope that his side’s 1-0 FA Cup win over Charlton on Sunday will give his players a confidence boost ahead of their trip to London.
It was their first match of 2022, as their New Year’s Day clash with Leicester was postponed, and they have recently recovered several important players like Teemu Pukki, Tim Krul, Todd Cantwell and Max Aarons.
