Agent: United interested in Neuer

Neuer is under contract with the Royal Blues until 2012 but the club’s financial troubles could lead to the Germany international being sold.

The goalkeeper’s agent, Thomas Kroth, admitted that the Red Devils have been keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old.

“We know Manchester United are interested in Neuer,” he told Sport Bild.

“Manuel would also like to play with a team that has a better international level.”

Sir Alex Ferguson continues to be linked with goalkeepers as a replacement for Edwin van der Sar – who could possibly hang up his gloves at the end of the season.

The United boss has recently been tipped to sign CSKA Moscow shot-stopper Igor Akinfeev, but the Scot has insisted that he will give understudies Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak the chance to fight it out for the No.1 jersey.

Neuer is currently valued at €13 million and has previously attracted interest from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.
