Ancelotti: Muller still a key figure at Bayern
Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti has ensured Thomas Muller he still has a role to play at the reigning Bundesliga champions.
Carlo Ancelotti is adamant Thomas Muller remains a key figure at Bayern Munich and says the Germany international will get plenty of playing time in the months to come.
Muller has endured a difficult 2016-17 campaign, scoring just once in 13 Bundesliga appearances.
The 27-year-old's struggles prompted comments from former Bayern star Lother Matthaus that he might struggle to win over Ancelotti after the winter break as he does not fit the Italian's style.
Nevertheless, Ancelotti has laughed off Matthaus' remarks and has ensured Muller he still has a role to play at the Allianz Arena.
"I have often said that Thomas Muller is a very intelligent player," Ancelotti was quoted as saying by TZ.
"He always finds the right place on the pitch, regardless of the position he plays.
"He has played a lot of games in the first half of the season and he will play a lot of games after the winter break.
