Aston Villa v Liverpool live stream: how to watch the FA Cup wherever you are in the world
Watch an Aston Villa v Liverpool live stream, as the Reds face a youthful home side
Aston Villa v Liverpool live stream, BT Sport, Friday 8 January, 7.45pm GMT
Liverpool will be looking to end their three-match winless run when they face Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round on Friday night. However, at the time of writing the match is currently under threat following an outbreak of coronavirus in the villa camp.
A 1-0 defeat by Southampton on Monday night means Liverpool have taken just two points from the last nine available in the Premier League. They now lead Manchester United at the top on goal difference alone, and may well have dropped below their arch-rivals by the time Ole Gunnar Solskjaer takes his side to Anfield next weekend. For now, Klopp and his players will be focused on avenging their October’s stunning 7-2 loss to Dean Smith’s side.
Villa are enjoying an excellent season and were one of the Premier League’s form teams in December, although they began 2021 with a 2-1 defeat by Manchester United. However, the first-team squad has been forced into isolation, which could be an adverse effect on Villa over the next few weeks. If this game does go ahead, the home team is likely to be made up of under-23 players.
Liverpool will have to make do without long-term absentees Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, while fellow centre-back Joel Matip is also out. Summer signings Diogo Jota and Konstantinos Tsimikas are still sidelined, while Naby Keita is not expected to return this weekend. Klopp could give opportunities to some fringe members of his squad, with Xherdan Shaqiri, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Neco Williams among those hoping to start.
It is not yet clear how many Villa players have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, but the club closed their training facilities on Thursday. Ross Barkley was thought to be nearing a return from injury, but Wesley Moraes and Trezeguet are both still on the treatment table.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm GMT and the game is being shown on BT Sport in the UK. See below for watching details where you are.

Use a VPN to watch an Aston Villa v Liverpool live stream from outside your country
If you’re on holiday or just simply out of the country, your domestic on-demand services won’t work – the broadcaster knows exactly where you are from your IP address. Your access to the game will be automatically blocked, which is annoying if you’ve paid a subscription fee and don't want to use an illegal, buffering stream that makes you miss another Jose Mourinho tantrum. And that's where we recommend ExpressVPN (more on which below).
All you need to do is get a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to get beyond such aggravations (assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs). A VPN creates a private connection between your device and the internet, meaning suppliers can’t work out where you are and what you’re doing. The info going to and from is entirely encrypted.
There are plenty of options out there, including:
ExpressVPN
Including a 30-day, money-back guarantee
FourFourTwo’s brainy office mates TechRadar love its super speedy connections, trustworthy security and the fact it works with Android, Apple, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, PS4 and loads more. You also get a money-back guarantee, 24/7 support and it's currently available for a knockdown price. Go get it!
NordVPN
Including a 30-day, money-back guarantee
A cheaper option; its cheapest package current averages at a wallet-friendly £2.29 per month.
IPVanish
Including a 30-day, money-back guarantee
Slightly more expensive but supports up to 10 devices, and you can pay for it every three months if you need to.
