Aston Villa will be looking to get back on track after suffering their first loss of the campaign against Leeds last time out.

Dean Smith’s side had a 100 per cent record heading into their meeting with Marcelo Bielsa’s men, but a 3-0 defeat leaves them on 12 points from a possible 15. That is still an excellent return, though, and one which has left Villa fans targeting a top-half finish just a few weeks after many pundits tipped them for another relegation battle.

Southampton are another club with momentum behind them. Ralph Hasenbuttl’s side became the first team to beat Everton so far this season in their most recent outing, with Saints having now bounced back from early defeats by Crystal Palace and Tottenham. They too will have designs on a top-10 place this term, with Hasenhuttl having now succeeded in getting his ideas across to his squad.

Villa may have conceded three times to Leeds last weekend, but they nevertheless possess the best defensive record in the division - and that remains the case even if you adjust for the game fewer they have played than most of their Premier League rivals. Smith deserves great credit for making the side more solid, but keeping Danny Ings and Che Adams quiet will be a tough ask this weekend.

Wesley Moraes is a long-term absentee for Villa and will not play again in 2020. Tom Heaton is still a few weeks away from returning to full fitness, but Kortney Hause could be available for selection after a groin strain.

Theo Walcott was unable to face parent club Everton last weekend but will be back in Southampton’s matchday squad for the trip to Villa Park. However, Saints will have to make do without Moussa Djenepo, Will Smallbone and Mohammed Salisu, the summer signing who is still awaiting his club debut.

Kick-off is at 12pm GMT and the game is being shown on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK. See below for watching details where you are.

Use a VPN to watch Aston Villa v Southampton live stream from outside your country

If you’re on holiday or just simply out of the country, your domestic on-demand services won’t work – the broadcaster knows exactly where you are from your IP address. Your access to the game will be automatically blocked, which is annoying if you’ve paid a subscription fee and don't want to use an illegal, buffering stream that makes you miss another Jose Mourinho tantrum. And that's where we recommend ExpressVPN (more on which below).

All you need to do is get a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to get beyond such aggravations (assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs). A VPN creates a private connection between your device and the internet, meaning suppliers can’t work out where you are and what you’re doing. The info going to and from is entirely encrypted.

There are plenty of options out there, including:
