Bosingwa escapes rap for studding Benayoun
The Football Association will take no disciplinary action against Chelsea full-back Jose Bosingwa for his challenge on Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun on Sunday. The Portuguese right-back clearly studded the Israeli midfielder in the back during the latter stages of Chelsea's 2-0 defeat at Anfield.
However, neither referee Mike Riley nor his assistant - who was stood just a yard or two from the incident - penalised the defender.
Bosingwa issued a statement apologising for his actions on Monday, and the FA have decided not to hand out any punishment.
Chelsea are still awaiting the result of an appeal over Frank Lampard's red card in the same game. The England midfielder was dismissed for a challenge on Liverpool's Xabi Alonso, although replays clearly showed the Chelsea man played the ball.
