Carragher calls for Alonso conclusion
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says he wants the ongoing Xabi Alonso transfer saga to end as soon as possible, but insists he hopes the Spaniard remains at Anfield.

Alonso has regularly been linked with a move to Real Madrid throughout the summer, with recent reports suggesting that Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City are also interested in signing the influential midfielder.
Manager Rafael Benitez has maintained that the 27-year-old is not for sale.
And vice-captain Carragher has revealed he is desperate for the situation to be finally resolved sooner rather than later, with the start of the Premier League season just four weeks away.
“The feeling within the squad, he is a top player and you do not want to lose your top players and hopefully it can be sorted out as quickly as possible,” he said.
“If the club thinks it is in the best interests of the club sometimes you have to do what is in the best interests of the club.
“But that's a personal matter for the manager and the club. We all go through these situations - well hopefully not me - and as I said, I just hope it gets sorted out sooner rather than later.”
