Rangers have made a fantastic start to the new Scottish Premiership season, but their title credentials can only be properly proven with a positive result against Celtic.
Steven Gerrard’s side have won eight and drawn two of their first 10 matches this season, and sit one point clear of Celtic - who have played a game fewer - ahead of Saturday’s Old Firm Derby.
The Hoops have won the last nine Scottish titles and Rangers are desperate to stop them making it 10 in a row this term - just as Celtic did to them back in 1997/98.
Gerrard’s side have been excellent in the opening weeks of this campaign, conceding just three times and registering four-goal victories over Dundee United and Motherwell.
Celtic are hot on their heels, though, having won eight and drawn one of their first nine games. Neil Lennon anticipates a tighter title race this term, but he will still be confident that Celtic’s experience of going the distance will once again see them finish on top as they look to move to within two championships of Rangers in the all-time standings.
Rangers’ recent record at Parkhead doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. They have failed to triumph at the home of their rivals since March 2011 - and that was a Scottish League Cup clash. Almost 10 years have now passed since their last victory at Celtic Park in the league.
Ryan Christie, Odsonne Edouard, Nir Bitton, Hatem Elhamed, James Forrest and Michael Johnston are all unavailable for Celtic, while Albian Ajeti is a doubt with a hamstring injury.
Saturday’s clash will probably come too soon for Rangers forward Kemar Roofe, who is nursing a calf problem, while Nikola Katic is out until January at the earliest. Joe Aribo is closing in on a return from an ankle injury but is unlikely to feature here.

Sky Sports and BT Sport are the two main players once again, but Amazon also have a slice of the pie in 2019/20.

NBC Sports and Telemundo are the Premier League rights holders (in English and Spanish respectively). The Premier League Pass will give you a few matches live to stream on-demand - all matches are free to watch the day after broadcast, though you'll need a TV sports package with a local provider to watch all games live - plus shows highlights, analysis and on-demand replays for $64.99.
