Chamakh hints at Arsenal summer switch
Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has revealed he will be leaving Bordeaux this summer, possibly for Arsenal.
The 25-year-old, who has earned 50 caps for Morocco scoring 15 goals, has netted 13 times in Ligue 1 this season to fire les Girondins to within touching distance of the league title.
Both Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland are believed to be chasing the highly-rated forward, while Chamakh himself recently admitted it would be difficult to turn down Spurs' arch rivals Arsenal should the Gunners come calling.
And although Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger has denied any interest in the front-man, Chamakh has now confirmed he will be leaving Bordeaux at the end of the season, with the Emirates Stadium a possible destination.
“Indeed, I am leaving,” he told Le Parisien.
“I hope that the [Bordeaux] directors will be comprehensive. Both parts have to find an agreement so I can leave amicably.
“I am in contact with various clubs, including in England, and I am ready to play for a mid-table side first in order to show myself.
“There is also something with Arsenal, but nothing concrete.”
