Chelsea report: Blues ready to renew interest in Rafael Leao in January
Chelsea attempted to sign the forward in the summer and they are set to try again
Chelsea are poised to renew their interest in AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, according to reports, as Graham Potter seeks to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.
The Blues tracked Leao for much of the summer but were ultimately unable to strike a deal for the man who was chosen as Serie A's Most Valuable Player in 2021/22.
The Milan star remains on Chelsea's radar and Corriere dello Sport reports the west Londoners are ready to submit a new offer for the Portugal international.
Chelsea are said to be willing to pay up to £86m for Leao, who was exclusively used as a substitute at World Cup 2022.
The forward, who is valued at £74.2m by Transfermarkt, has scored six goals and provided four assists for Milan in Serie A this term.
Chelsea were the highest-spending club in Europe over the summer, as incoming owner Todd Boehly sanctioned deals worth more than £270m.
But for all their expenditure, the Blues sit eighth in the Premier League table and have considerable ground to make up when the season resumes on Boxing Day.
