Chelsea undeterred in pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol
Blues' owner Todd Boehly was unable to complete a deal for the Croatian defender over the summer
Todd Boehly’s desire to overhaul the Chelsea squad shows little sign of slowing despite their huge £270million outlay on new signings this summer
According to The Express, Graham Potter approves of the Blues’ interest in Josko Gvardiol and discussions with RB Leipzig will resume when the World Cup is over.
A meeting has been scheduled between the two clubs for after the tournament has finished, with Croatia top of Group F heading into the final round of matches.
Gvardiol’s burgeoning reputation has only been enhanced by his assured performances against Morocco and Canada.
At just 20 years old, the left-sided defender has been one of his country’s standout performers as they once more target a place in the latter rounds.
Comfortable playing in a back three or a back four, Gvardiol’s versatility would provide Potter with plenty of options from a tactical perspective.
He started his career at Dinamo Zagreb, returning to the club on loan after he joined Leipzig for €16million in September 2020.

Although Gvardiol signed a contract extension with the Bundesliga side in September, suitors continue to monitor his progress closely.
Chelsea are believed to be preparing another bid for Gvardiol having already agreed a deal to sign his teammate Christopher Nkunku.
