Chorley v Derby County live stream, BT Sport, Saturday 9 January, 12.15pm GMT

Chorley will have a chance of pulling off an upset when they face a youthful Derby team in the third round of the FA Cup.

Derby struggled to string consistent results together over the last few weeks, beating Swansea and Birmingham but losing to Preston and Sheffield Wednesday. Rooney has done a largely excellent job in interim charge of the club, but Derby’s latest loss to Wednesday leaves them in the bottom three of the Championship.

Rooney and his players would ordinarily have welcome the opportunity to switch their focus to the FA Cup this weekend, although a coronavirus outbreak means the Rams will be forced to field a youth side. Rooney will also miss the game at Victory Park, while Derby's training facilities are currently closed. You can get 29/29 on a Derby win with Grosvenor Sports, and if you bet £10 you'll get £20 in free bets.

Chorley currently sit mid-table in the National League North - the sixth tier of English football - and are through to the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history. They began their adventure in this season’s edition of the competition way back in the second qualifying round, and have already beaten Gateshead, York, Wigan and Peterborough on their way to this clash with the one-time FA Cup winners. Given the situation at Derby, a place in the fourth round should not be beyond them - you can get 27/20 on a Chorley win with Grosvenor Sports.

Manager Jamie Vermiglio would no doubt have been relishing the opportunity to pit his wits against Rooney, who remains in caretaker charge of the Rams almost two months on from Phillip Cocu’s departure. Instead, academy director Darren Wassall will take charge of a side comprised of under-23 and under-18 players.

Vermiglio had three spells with Chorley as a player and then served as a coach and assistant manager at the club, before stepping into the hot seat in 2018. He is also the headteacher of Locking Stumps Community Primary School.

Kick-off is at 12.15pm GMT and the game is being shown on BT Sport 1 in the UK. See below for watching details where you are.

Use a VPN to watch a Chorley v Derby County live stream from outside your country

If you’re on holiday or just simply out of the country, your domestic on-demand services won’t work – the broadcaster knows exactly where you are from your IP address. Your access to the game will be automatically blocked, which is annoying if you’ve paid a subscription fee and don't want to use an illegal, buffering stream that makes you miss another Jamie Vardy goal. And that's where we recommend ExpressVPN (more on which below).

All you need to do is get a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to get beyond such aggravations (assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs). A VPN creates a private connection between your device and the internet, meaning suppliers can’t work out where you are and what you’re doing. The info going to and from is entirely encrypted.

There are plenty of options out there, including:
