Controversial Li Weifeng to join Suwon

The 30-year-old central defender's eight-match ban for rough play during a CSL match in October resulted in thousands of fans marching through Wuhan in protest and his club pulling out of the CSL.

"His suspension is still valid, which means all the CSL clubs are keeping away from him," Li's agent Yu Guoqiong told a Wuhan newspaper.

"He has no choice other than to leave for Korea. He only wants to play football in peace."

Li will leave for South Korea on Wednesday to sign a contract with the K-League champions, subject to a medical, Titan Sports reported.

Li's physical presence is a boon to a national team often considered lightweight but the former Shenzhen and Shanghai Shenhua player has had regular disciplinary problems and lost the captaincy of his country in 2006 after a string of red cards.
