What the papers say
Georginio Wijnaldum might leave Liverpool for Paris St Germain or Inter Milan in the summer, according to Le Parisien. The 30-year-old Dutch midfielder’s contract expires in June, and Liverpool will likely lose him for nothing if they do not sign him to a new deal. While the Reds are eager to agree fresh terms with him, PSG and Inter are circling with potentially lucrative offers to lure Wijnaldum away.
Jurgen Klopp has a defensive target in mind in Brazilian centre-back Gleison Bremer, Tuttosport reports. The Reds made an unfulfilled attempt to sign Bremer in 2018, but are set to renew their bid for the Torino man in light of the fact their defensive stocks have been depleted by injuries this season as their title defence has run aground. Torino are reportedly eager to keep the 23-year-old, who has made 19 starts for them this season.
Tottenham are the latest club said to be interested in Burnley keeper Nick Pope, LancsLive reports. The 28-year-old is being eyed by Spurs as a replacement for Hugo Lloris ahead of his widely expected move to PSG at season’s end. The Clarets, however, have made it clear they would not let Pope go cheaply. Having recently signed him to a new deal until 2023, Burnley are expected to demand £50million for the 28-year-old.
Manchester City are expected to be Chelsea’s main opposition in their likely bid to sign Norway striker Erling Haaland this summer, the Daily Star reports. The 20-year-old looks set to be the hottest commodity in world football in the summer after his stellar rise at Borussia Dortmund. Chelsea have made their keen interest known, but City are at the head of a list of other clubs considering making a move, with Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona mentioned in calculations.
Manchester United are eager to pounce on West Ham’s Declan Rice, 90min reports. The 22-year-old midfielder has caught the interest of several Premier League clubs, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be particularly interested. The Red Devils plan to offer a player out of Jesse Lingard – currently on loan at the London Stadium – Nemanja Matic or Phil Jones in order to convince the Hammers to part with Rice.
