A new version of the iconic football anthem Three Lions has been released by David Baddiel, Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds ahead of World Cup 2022, this time with a Christmas theme and a focus on the England Woman's team Euro 2022 win in July.
Aptly named Three Lions (It’s Coming Home for Christmas), the re-recorded song features new lyrics and an audio clip of the Lionesses triumphant press conference rendition of the song, where the squad crashed manager Sarina Wiegman's address to the media.
Comedians Baddiel and Skinner are really pleased with the latest version, with the pair saying they had to take advantage of potentially being number one at Christmas - though that will largely rely on how England perform in Qatar.
David Baddiel said: “At last it’s between me and Mariah Carey for who really is the voice of Christmas."
Meanwhile, Skinner said: “We just had to do it. Christmas World Cup songs are not like buses. If we’d let this opportunity pull away, it would have been a very long wait for the next one."
