Former Argentina forward Varallo turns 100
BUENOS AIRES - Francisco Varallo, the only surviving player who took part in the first World Cup final in 1930, playing for Argentina in the 4-2 defeat by Uruguay in Montevideo, turned 100 on Friday.

Varallo held Boca Juniors' goalscoring record of 181 goals from 1939 when he retired until 2008 when he was overtaken by currently active striker Martin Palermo, who has scored more than 200.
He won three Argentine league titles with Boca and the South American championship (Copa America) with Argentina in 1937.
