Gotze, Gundogan return for Germany as Halstenberg gets first call-up
Joachim Low has welcomed back Mario Gotze and Ilkay Gundogan and added a surprising new face to his Germany squad.
Mario Gotze and Ilkay Gundogan are back in the Germany squad, with Marcel Halstenberg earning a call-up for the first time.
Borussia Dortmund forward Gotze and Manchester City midfielder Gundogan have not played for their country this year due to respective metabolic and knee problems but are in Joachim Low's plans for the friendly matches against England and France.
The more surprising addition to the squad is uncapped RB Leipzig full-back Halstenberg, who has impressed in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season.
There is no place for Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller, who is recovering from a hamstring strain.
