Tottenham striker Harry Kane made his first appearance of the season in the 1-0 win at Wolves.
Kane came off the bench in the 72nd minute having not been involved in the opening two games of the season following his late return from holiday amid his desire to leave the club.
Here, the PA news agency takes a look at the England captain’s afternoon at Molineux.
Jeers on arrival
All eyes were on the Tottenham team coach as it arrived at Molineux 90 minutes before kick-off to see whether Kane had travelled with the team. Sure enough, the striker stepped off and was greeted by jeers from the crowd. They were largely Wolves fans, though, and Kane ignored them as he made his way into the stadium.
He’s one of our own
After Tottenham fans sang ‘Are you watching Harry Kane’ during last week’s win over Manchester City, there were big question marks over how they would react to him. They showed that they still support him as they gave a loud rendition of ‘Harry Kane, he’s one of our own’ during his 72nd-minute introduction. The Wolves fans were not so kind, reminding their counterparts that Kane is keen to leave and has not won anything during his time at Spurs.
Performance
Spurs were up against it so Kane’s introduction was important to offer his side something in attack. Even though they beat City last week without him, it is abundantly clear they are a better team with him on the pitch. He had the chance to mark his return with a goal as he was played in by Bergwijn, but Jose Sa did well to save from a narrow angle. He received a late booking for time-wasting as Spurs saw the game out. At full-time he went over to the travelling Tottenham fans to clap them and was well received as his future remains up in the air.
