Hoeness unconcerned by Muller struggles

Thomas Muller is the same player that Manchester United were ready to pay €100million for despite his underwhelming form this season, says Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness.

Muller's struggles in front of goal have seen him fall out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti, the Germany international netting just once in 15 Bundesliga appearances.

He has received his fair share of criticism in recent weeks but Hoeness is not concerned and has backed the 27-year-old to bounce back.

"I am not worried about Thomas. Manchester United were ready to pay €100 million for him a year ago," Hoeness told Sport Bild.

"But of course, I do hope that he will soon be an undisputed starter again. And I have no doubt that will soon be the case once more.

"In a normal situation, when Thomas is in form and high on confidence, he will always be a starter at Bayern. He is an absolute key figure for us.

"But I would obviously never put any pressure on the coach to play him."
