Injured Reina out of Spain squad
Athletic Bilbao's Kepa has replaced Pepe Reina in Julen Lopetegui's Spain squad for the matches against Israel and France.
Pepe Reina has been forced to withdraw from the Spain squad after failing to recover from a muscle injury.
The 34-year-old Napoli goalkeeper missed training on Tuesday and it was reported that scans later confirmed that he had suffered a thigh strain.
Reina has now been replaced by Under-21 goalkeeper Kepa of Athletic Bilbao after he was unable to recover from the problem.
"Jose Manuel Reina will leave the national team camp after his physical condition did not improve as had been hoped," a statement released via Spain's official website confirmed.
"It will be Kepa Arrizabalaga, who trained with the team throughout Wednesday, who will be the one to occupy Pepe Reina's position."
Reports in Italy have suggested that Reina's injury is not serious, meaning he should be available for the Serie A and Coppa Italia double-header against Juventus after the international break.
Spain take on Israel in a World Cup qualifier on Friday before the face France in a friendly match on March 28.
