Kaka: Gerrard the complete modern player

In the new issue of FourFourTwo, out now, the Brazilian star was asked to name his three favourite current players.

The former São Paulo player, who locked horns with Gerrard in both the 2005 and 2007 UEFA Champions League finals, was in no doubt who possesses the total package.

“That’s a difficult question," he said. "But if I have to choose three, I would pick Cristiano Ronaldo, because of his skill and speed; Messi, because of his flair and skills; and Steven Gerrard, who for me is the complete modern player.”

None of those stars play in Italy, but Kaka refutes the idea that the signing of David Beckham – to play alongside Kaka and Ronaldinho – is turning Milan into a latter-day version of Real Madrid’s Galacticos.

“I don’t believe you can call AC Milan the new Galacticos," said the devout Christian. "We’ve always been a team full of big names and stars, so nothing has changed there.

“David Beckham’s arrival has helped us a lot, thanks to his skills, his quality and his professionalism. He is an amazing player, with a lot of talent. And I think I can learn a lot from playing with him.”
