Levski Sofia owner demands foreign referees
SOFIA - Levski Sofia owner Todor Batkov has threatened to withdraw the club from the Bulgarian championship if authorities reject his demand for foreign referees to officiate his team's matches.
"I will not allow the club to take part in the championship if they don't appoint foreign referees for our matches in the spring," Batkov told sports website www.sportal.bg.
Batkov's threat comes a day after the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) rejected Levski's accusations that authorities are trying to "pre-determine" the championship.
Two matches before the winter break which lasts more than two months, Levski are fourth in the standings with 23 points, nine behind leaders Litex Lovech.
