Liverpool report: Reds dealt blow as World Cup star offered new contract by current club
Liverpool are still hoping to strike a deal for the United States and Valencia midfielder
Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of USA international Yunus Musah, according to reports.
The midfielder starred for Gregg Berhalter's side in Qatar, including in a 0-0 draw with England in Group B.
The Reds have been monitoring the 20-year-old, who has a release clause of £86.2m in his Valencia contract.
However, in response to the mounting interest in one of their star players, los Che are ready to offer Musah a new deal.
That is according to a report by 90min, which states that Valencia have already opened talks with the player's agent.
They will no doubt seek to raise his release clause and could also offer him an extension, even though his current contract runs until 2026.
Musah, who is valued at £17.25m by Transfermarkt, spent seven years on the books of Arsenal as a youngster.
