Manchester United report: PSV raise Cody Gakpo price after stunning World Cup 2022 form
Cody Gakpo has scored three goals in four games for the Netherlands in Qatar
PSV have added €15 million to their Cody Gakpo price tag since the start of World Cup 2022, say reports, in a blow to suitors Manchester United.
The Old Trafford club are reportedly in talks with the Dutch side about a January move for Gakpo, who has shone for the Netherlands in Qatar.
But Foot Mercato writes that United will have to pay at least €15m extra because of Gakpo’s superb form in Qatar.
The 23-year-old scored in all three of the Oranje’s Group A games, and France’s Kylian Mbappe, with five goals, is the only player to have out-scored him at the tournament.
Ahead of the Netherlands’ quarter-final clash with Argentina on Friday, the report says that United have been following Gakpo’s performances closely.
It claims that PSV have reassessed their demands for the striker, who they valued at €45m at the end of August.
That valuation went up to €60m before the World Cup after Gakpo started the season in electric form with 13 goals and 17 assists in 24 appearances for PSV.

But his performances on the biggest stage of all for his country mean that the Eindhoven side will now demand €75m for Gakpo’s signature.
United are on the lookout for a new striker after Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract was terminated last month in the wake of a controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
Gakpo is valued at €45m by Transfermarkt, and has a contract until 2026 at PSV.
