Messi: Chelsea will be too scared to attack
Barcelona sensation Lionel Messi has taunted Chelsea ahead of their Champions League semi final second leg on Wednesday, saying the Blues will be too scared to attack the Catalan giants. The sides square-up at Stamford Bridge locked at 0-0 from the first leg at the Nou Camp, with Pep Guardiola's la Liga leaders having run riot against arch-rivals Real Madrid at the weekend, winning 6-2 at the Bernabeu.
And 'The Flea' believes Chelsea's need to push forward and score in the second leg will play right into the free-flowing Catalans' hands.
“I hope Chelsea will play more open football this time,” Messi said in The Sun.
“Maybe the game against Madrid has sapped their desire to do that but we always look to win a game.”
And the Argentine winger believes Andres Iniesta's influence will prove crucial to Barca’s hopes of progressing to the Rome final, with the 21-year-old comparing the playmaker to Zinedine Zidane.
“Andres is easily at the same level as Zidane," he said.
“What Andres does on the pitch is impressive. He’s an incredible player, as is the rest of our squad. I’m surrounded by great players.”
