Mido joins Wigan, Newcastle sign Lovenkrands

"He is still a relatively young man with potentially his best years ahead of him and hopefully he can produce a bit of magic for us," manager Steve Bruce told his club's website.

The 25-year-old Mido played for a host of clubs including Ajax Amsterdam, Olympique Marseille, AS Roma and Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Middlesbrough for six million pounds ($8.27 million) in 2007.

Newcastle United have signed Denmark striker Peter Lovenkrands until the end of the season, the English Premier League club said on their website.

The 28-year-old, released by German team Schalke 04 earlier this season, impressed Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear during a two-week trial.
