Over to you Liverpool – Premier League clubs could match Champions League record

Manchester City have joined Manchester United and Tottenham in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, meaning victory for Liverpool on Wednesday night would see English clubs match their own record in the competition.

The Premier League is the only domestic competition ever to have had four clubs represented in the last eight and, with City, who completed a 10-2 aggregate thrashing of Schalke on Tuesday, United and Tottenham already through, there is the chance for a repeat of 2007/08 and 2008/09.

FourFourTwo Staff

FourFourTwo was launched in 1994 on the back of a World Cup that England hadn’t even qualified for. It was an act of madness… but it somehow worked out. Our mission is to offer our intelligent, international audience access to the game’s biggest names, insightful analysis... and a bit of a giggle. We unashamedly love this game and we hope that our coverage reflects that.
