Quaresma omitted from Inter European squad
Inter Milan have omitted Ricardo Quaresma from their Champions League squad for the remainder of the season, a club statement said.
The Portuguese winger, signed for 18.6 million euros ($23.90 million) from Porto in September, has had a dreadful start to his Inter career and was heckled by his own fans during the 1-1 home draw with Torino on Sunday.
Inter coach Jose Mourinho, whose side play holders Manchester United in the last 16 on February 24 and March 11, had already announced that striker Hernan Crespo would not be on the squad list.
The decision had led to increased speculation that the out-of-favour winger could be offered to Tottenham Hotspur as part of a swap deal for either David Bentley or Jermaine Jenas, who Mourinho has admitted he is an admirer of.
However, it was strongly believed that Chelsea were keen on recruiting the winger on loan just minutes before the close of the transfer window, reuniting the Portuguese flanker with, former national team coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari.
