Championship leaders Norwich will be looking to maintain their position at the summit of the standings when they do battle with Reading on Wednesday.
The Canaries had a shaky start to the season, winning just one of their opening four fixtures as they struggled to adjust to life back in the second tier. However, they have been largely excellent since then and are now looking down on the rest of the division from the top of the table, having won three games in a row since a surprise defeat by Luton at the start of the month. Norwich’s latest triumph came at Ewood Park on Saturday, as Daniel Farke’s charges beat Blackburn thanks to a Teemu Pukki brace. Norwich have neither the best attacking nor defensive record in the division, but their knack for edging tight contests has put them in a commanding position as they seek an immediate return to the Premier League. Reading occupied first place earlier this season, only for a dreadful run of four defeats on the bounce to send them tumbling down the table. Reading will again have to make do without Lucas Joao, Yakou Meite, George Puscas, Andy Yiadom and John Swift, while Omar Richards is also out after limping off against QPR with a hamstring injury.
Norwich will not be able to call upon Adam Idah, Bali Mumba, Tim Krul, Xavi Quintilla, Onel Hernandez and Sam Byram.
