Real star Marco Asensio set for lengthy lay-off after rupturing ACL

Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and looks set to be sidelined for at least six months.
The LaLiga club announced on Wednesday that the 23-year-old Spain international will undergo surgery.
Asensio was rushed to hospital during the 2-2 International Champions Cup draw with Arsenal in Washington on Tuesday night.

A statement on Real’s official website said: “After the tests performed on our player Marco Asensio by the Real Madrid Medical Services he has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and the external meniscus of his left knee.
“The player will be surgically operated in the next few days.”
