Ronaldinho to hang up boots?

According to Spanish news daily Sport, the 29-year-old former Barcelona ace is said to be considering his future in football because his disappointing form at Milan is leaving him disillusioned with the game.

The Brazilian, twice FIFA World Player of the Year, has been the subject of much criticism during his time in Italy, and was left out of Leonardo’s squad for Sunday's 1-0 victory over Bologna.

Rumours are now rife that the samba superstar is poised to retire at the end of the season – but won’t entertain ideas of reigniting his career in the Brazilian league like friends and former teammates Ronaldo and Adriano.

It was a Brazilian radio station, Jovem Pan AM, that reported Ronaldinho’s plans to hang up his boots following his final season at Barcelona, but his brother and agent, Roberto de Assis convinced him to move to Milan.

After failing to lead the side as Silvio Berlusconi wished, struggling to fill the void left by Kaka’s departure to Madrid and with international involvement at next summer’s World Cup an increasingly unlikely prospect, whispers of retirement have resurfaced.
