Sir Alex cools Akinfeev talk
Sir Alex Ferguson has refuted reports linking CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev with a move to Manchester United.

The Russia international caught the eye of the United boss after two impressive displays against the Red Devils during the Champions League group stages.
The No.1 goalkeeping position at Old Trafford appears to be up for grabs, and speculation is rife that the Premier League champions will bolster their ranks during the January transfer window.
Ever-dependable Dutchman Edwin van der Sar is set to hang up his gloves in the near future, while doubts continue to linger over the ability of understudies Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak.
Ferguson, however, has cooled speculation that Akinfeev is on the Scot’s wish-list and is confident the current goalkeepers he has at his disposal are more than capable of filling Van der Sar’s gloves.
“I told you to watch out for him [Akinfeev] and he was fantastic as I expected,” Ferguson told United Review.
“He is athletic, powerful and distributed well. Having said that, don’t go rushing to conclusions.
“I know there have been rumours that we are interested in trying to sign him but that is not true.

“He is a great goalkeeper but I am very happy with our goalkeeping strength – from the senior ranks down to some bright lads coming through."
