Swansea will be looking to maintain their promotion push when they host Reading on Wednesday.
Steve Cooper’s side moved into the top two for the first time since the beginning of November with a 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers on Boxing Day. That has been Swansea’s favourite scoreline in recent weeks, with four of their last six matches ending in a 2-0 win for the Welsh outfit. Swansea have now kept five clean sheets in their last half-dozen outings, with Derby the only team to breach their backline in that time. Cooper will be hoping for more of the same when Reading come to town for their final game of 2020.
Veljko Paunovic’s side remain inconsistent, but a 2-1 triumph over Luton at the weekend saw them climb back into the top six. The early pace-setters - Reading topped the table until the middle of November - have fallen away in the last couple of months, but they remain well placed for a promotion push in the second half of the campaign. Reading’s away form is not the best, however, having failed to win five of their last six matches away from the Madejski Stadium.
Swansea will have to make do without Morgan Gibbs-White, who is hoping to return to action early in the new year. Kyle Naughton is available again and could come into the defence, but Liam Cullen is out after testing positive for COVID-19. Cooper has named an unchanged team in his side’s last two games but could shuffle his pack here in a bid to ward off fatigue.
Reading have a lengthy injury list to contend with as they look to hold on to their place in the top six. Lewis Gibson is another two or three weeks away from returning from a hamstring problem, while Omar Richards, Liam Moore and Andy Yiadom are also in the treatment room. George Puscas, Felipe Araruna and Yakou Meite are also out, but Lucas Joao could be involved as a substitute in south Wales.
