Toure considering options

The Ivory Coast international has struggled to break into coach Pep Guardiola’ first-team plans this season and was left out of the starting 11 for Barca’s clash with bitter rivals Real Madrid on Sunday night.

Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk has previously aired the player’s frustration and revealed a number of European clubs were interested in the 26-year-old.

And the former Monaco anchorman has admitted he is considering his options after becoming disgruntled with life at the Nou Camp.

“My situation is astonishing. I have to take a personal decision about all this,” Toure told France Football.

The Ivorian international figured heavily in the Catalan’s treble success last term but has found his place taken by youngster Sergio Busquets in the heart of Barca’s midfield.

And despite penning a new contract with the Catalans during the summer, the Ivorian has started just four La Liga games this season.

“When a new contract is given to a player, particularly at a club like this, it makes no sense to then leave him on the bench all the time,” he added.

“I think that at my age a player is at his peak in physical and ability terms, but I do not have the chance to play at the moment.

“This situation is damaging. I am not a thirty-something, I am still young.

“I need more minutes because I am not playing enough. But the coach is the one that has to decide if I play or not.”
