WAG swine flu scare to rock Premier League?

20-year-old Seb Hines - who has spent time on loan at both Derby and Oldham in 2009 - is rumoured to be ‘stepping out’ with Hayes, who is allegedly being tested for traces of the virus having recently returned from a holiday in Mexico.

If there is a chance of any flu being passed around the Boro squad - which given their feeble attempts at passing a ball around this season is probably unlikely - it could give Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson further cause for concern.

Not only do United face Middlesbrough on Saturday, they also play Arsenal in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday night.

And Gunners striker and Mexico international Carlos Vela is thought to have been ordered away from the club’s training ground on Monday, while he was given a quick once over for traces of the disease after friends from his homeland visited over the weekend.

However, as of yet there is no word of any concern over Spurs’ Mexican forward Giovani dos Santos, currently on loan at Ipswich, or Barcelona defender Rui Marquez.

The latter did pull up with a mysterious injury in Tuesday night's Champions League clash with Chelsea at the Nou Camp, but that was later confirmed as a non-swine related injury.
