Wenger waxes lyrical about efficient Arshavin
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hailed the sudden impact of January signing Andrey Arshavin following his four-goal haul against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday.
The diminutive Russian bagged all four of the Gunners' goals in the thrilling 4-4 draw that dented Rafael Benitez's Premier League title aspirations.
The former Zenit St Petersburg playmaker has now hit six goals in his eight league appearances since arriving at the beginning of February.
And Wenger has been waxing-lyrical about his £15 million signing's midweek strikes on Merseyside.
“What makes me very positive about the future is the fact he is a real winner," he told Arsenal TV Online.
“He is an efficient player. The difference between great players and less great players is that they are efficient in what they do. They have that in mind always when they play.
“I liked the first goal, as it’s a consequence of a collective team play, the way we like to play.
“The fourth goal is the desire of the winner. It’s a good mixture of motivation, extreme motivation, and relaxed as well. When you see his goal from behind, it’s like he flies away with the ball. He let’s his left foot go completely!
“It’s an amazing mixture of motivation and quality. Pure technical quality.”
