Who is the referee for Morocco vs Portugal at World Cup 2022?
Argentine official Facundo Tello is the man in the middle for Morocco vs Portugal in the quarter-finals of World Cup 2022
Morocco vs Portugal will have Facundo Tello of Argentina officiating, in the biggest match of the referee's career so far.
The World Cup 2022 referee took charge of Switzerland vs Cameroon and South Korea vs Portugal in the group stage, but only got his FIFA license in 2019.
Neutrals watching Morocco vs Portugal may hope for some of the drama experienced in Friday night's quarter-final between Argentina and the Netherlands – which saw the likes of Sergio Aguero slamming the refereeing – but Tello will be hoping for a more gentle affair.
Not that he's unaccustomed to dishing cards out, though: in his final game in Argentina before the World Cup, a Community Shield-equivalent game between Boca Juniors and Racing Club, he dished out no fewer than 10 red cards.
The two linesmen also hail from Argentina, while the fourth official Iván Arcides Barton Cisneros is from El Salvador, also in South America.
