World Cup 2022: Antoine Griezmann hits incredible France landmark in Tunisia defeat
The France forward hasn't missed a game for his country since 2017.
Antoine Griezmann hit a remarkable landmark during France’s final World Cup 2022 group game against Tunisia on Wednesday.
The Atletico Madrid forward came off the bench for the final 17 minutes as the defending champions fell to a shock 1-0 defeat.
Griezmann thought he had equalised with a well-taken volley deep in stoppage time, but the goal was disallowed for offside following a VAR review.
However, his mere presence on the pitch continued a remarkable run with the national team.
Griezmann has now played in 70 consecutive games for France, a run stretching back to a friendly against England in June 2017, when he was left on the bench.
Since then, France have won the World Cup and the Nations League, but suffered a disappointing last-16 exit at Euro 2020.
The 31-year-old has been there every step of the way and remains a central cog in the team for Les Bleus’ attempt to defend their title in Qatar.
